Kum & Go raising money for tornado victims

Kum & Go is joining the American Red Cross disaster relief effort in Oklahoma.

Now through Friday, May 31, customers will have the opportunity to add $1 to each purchase they make.

Every dollar donated will go directly to the Red Cross for relief efforts.

Kum & Go has more than 400 stores in 11 states, including several here in Your Region 8.

Dollar General needs 10,000 new employees.

To fill that tall order, the company will host a career fair this Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Dollar General store located at 2118 S. Caraway.

Dollar General representatives will be available to discuss opportunities, receive resumes and discuss long-term opportunities with candidates.

The Three Rivers College Jazz and Symphonic Bands will close out the 2012-2013 academic year with their “Gems of the Concert Stage” performance on Tuesday, May 7, at 7 p.m. in the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on the college’s Poplar Bluff Campus.

The Caruthersville Chamber of Commerce invites golfers to tee up at the Memorial Business and Industry Golf Tournament.

This year’s tournament will be held Wednesday, May 8, at the Caruthersville Country Club.  The event will start with lunch at 11 a.m. with tee-off beginning at noon.  A dinner will follow at 6 p.m.

The fee is $60 per person which includes a mulligan, entry in the tournament, lunch and dinner.  Players will also be eligible for a prize drawing.

The last day to enter a four-person team is Friday, April 26.

Qdoba, Everyday Chef coming to Jonesboro

Qdoba, Everyday Chef coming to Jonesboro

Haag Brown Commercial announced Friday it has closed on a deal to bring a new restaurant and store to Jonesboro.

Qdoba Mexican Grill and The Everyday Chef will be located on Parkwood Drive facing Sissy's Log Cabin and Panera Bread, according to a news release from Haag Brown Commercial.

Nix Construction has already begun site work and completion is expected in late summer.
