Update: Husband charged following deadly domestic dispute | Crime
A Bootheel Missouri man is being held on a $250,000 cash-only bond, accused of shooting his wife in a deadly domestic dispute.
Stevie Lott, 41, of Sikeston is charged with second degree murder, armed criminal action, felon in possession of a firearm, endangering the welfare of a child, and leaving the scene of a shooting.
Around 3 a.m. Thursday morning officers with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety were called to Lott’s home in the 400-block of John R. Boulevard regarding a domestic disturbance.
According to Captain Jim McMillen of the DPS, when officers arrived they found Nyketia Lott, 26, dead from a gunshot wound to the head.
Information at the scene led police to suspect her husband, who was not at the home.
Officers began searching for Lott. They located him about two hours later in a nearby area, McMillen said.
Lott is currently being held in jail, awaiting arraignment.
McMillen said the case is still under investigation and asks that anyone with relevant information call Sikeston DPS at (573) 471-4711 or Crime Stoppers at (573) 471-1500. Tips can remain anonymous.
