Woman wakes to shirtless man breaking into bedroom | Crime

A Caruthersville woman received a rude awakening Tuesday when a shirtless man tried to break into her home while she was sleeping.

According to police, the incident happened at approximately 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at a home in the 1200-block of Madison Avenue.

The 57-year-old victim told police she was awakened by a noise.  When she looked up, she saw a shirtless white man trying to push his way into her bedroom.  The woman then ran out of her home.

After searching the area and speaking with neighbors, officers were able to identify and locate the man a short time later.

During questioning, officers say they learned the suspect had “taken a large amount of prescription medication.”  He was taken to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital for observation.

The incident is still under investigation.
