Woman arrested in connection with burglaries, thefts

Kennett police have arrested a woman in connection with a recent string of burglaries and thefts.  Now they’re looking for three more suspects.

Tuesday night at a home in the 600-block of Whitney Street officers arrested 29-year-old Christa Montney of Kennett for felony stealing and possession of burglary tools.

According to Police Chief James Paine, officers also located “several stolen items, including evidence of past thefts of air conditioners, copper wire and other items.”

Investigators believe the suspects were “scraping” metal from various locations to sell to scrap yards and recycling centers.

Chief Paine says his department is still seeking three others in connection with the thefts.  He believes they will be located soon.

The chief would also like to thank everyone who helped officers in this investigation.  “With the continued support of the community we can continue solving crimes like these,” he said in a news release.
