Living to Go Church celebrating anniversary with BBQ picnic

 

Living to Go Church in Paragould will celebrate its second anniversary this Sunday, May 19, with a bar-be-cue picnic.

Located at 3607 Reynolds Park Road, there will be plenty of fun for the entire family, including bouncy houses.

The picnic will begin immediately following church services at noon and will last until 3 p.m.

“If you have never attended a service at Living to Go, this is the perfect opportunity,” Pastor Chad Randall said in an email to Your Region 8.  “It’s going to be a fun day.”

Vets, guests to be treated to 'American Gold'

 

America's golden warriors and their guests will be treated to "American Gold."

The John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff announced Re-Creation’s “American Gold” show will appear in the main lobby this Thursday, April 25, at 2 p.m.

The stage presentation features hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s as well as country, Motown, pop and golden oldies from the Big Band era.  The audience is invited to sing along.

The program is free and open to the public.

New York Times bestselling author Acton Bowen, Buddy Mullins of the Gaither vocal band "Testify" and William "Chris" Shelton invite you to answer “A Call to Honor.”

The event will be held Saturday, April 20, at 6 p.m. at the Paragould Community Center.

Shelton, who is the founder of Reach Out Christ’s Kingdom (R.O.C.K.) Ministries in Piggott and the event organizer, describes it as an “inter-denominational, bipartisan call to a higher standard for our youth, men, women, business, political and religious leaders.”

Malden R-1 to conduct preschool screenings in May

 

Malden R-1 Preschool will conduct its annual screening for children interested in attending preschool in the fall.

Children must be age 3 or 4 by July 31, 2013, and reside in the Malden R-1 School District in order to be eligible.

Screenings will be held in the Early Childhood Center on the following days and times:

The New Madrid Chamber of Commerce is seeking participants for its Little Miss/Mister Armed Forces Day pageant.

The pageant will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18.  It is open to girls, 0 to 15 years of age, and boys from 0 to 4 years of age.

There is a $20 entry fee with optional $5 special event categories.

There will be seven queens and four kings crowned, as well as a mini supreme, grand supreme and ultimate grand supreme in the girls’ division and an ultimate grand supreme in the boys’ division.
