Student hit by car passing school bus | News

A 14-year-old Holcomb boy was injured when he was struck by a car passing a school bus.

The accident happened at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday on Missouri Highway 25, half a mile east of Holcomb.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 46-year-old Richard E. Mathews of Malden was passing a school bus and a 2004 Chevrolet driven by 18-year-old Houston L. McEwrath of Kennett on the right hand side of the road.

Investigators say Mathews' 1988 Jaguar traveled off the road then struck Shane O. Conder, who had just stepped off the bus.

Conder was taken to Twin Rivers Hospital with minor injuries.

According to the police incident report, the school bus had all the safety equipment implemented.
