Dexter students to sing at Busch Stadium Saturday | News
Some 5th graders from Dexter can hardly wait until this weekend.
They'll be singing a familiar tune at the Cardinals game on Saturday, and they're pretty excited about it.
During the 7th inning stretch at the Busch stadium, the students will have their chance to shine while singing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game."
"I love to sing," said Joe Rice, a 5th Grader. "I love the Cardinals and want to be a baseball player when I grow up, so it's a once in a lifetime experience."
"I'm looking forward to seeing the crowd and my parents staring down," said 5th Grader Macy Roper.
"I'm excited my friends will be out there with me," said 5th Grader Abby Dorton.
This marks the 12th year the Songmakers have belted out either the National Anthem, "God Bless America," or "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" at the ball park.
"They look forward to this all year," said Music Teacher Delisa Sietze.
They of course work on other pieces and are known for their angelic voices and good character.
"They're a fantastic group of kids who can sing well, their conduct as school is excellent, said Sietze. "I'm very proud of this group."
"I'm just really blessed to have this opportunity because a lot of people don't get to do this," said Macy Roper.
The group will perform at the April 28 game at Busch when the Cardinals take on the Brewers.
