A Bootheel woman died early Sunday morning in a single-car crash.
According to Trooper K.C. Ward of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 1 a.m. on County Road 532, three miles north of Miner.
Kylie D. DeWitt, 23, of Sikeston was traveling east when her 2012 Mazda 6 ran off the road and hit a bridge abutment and ditch.
DeWitt, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:40 a.m. by Scott County Deputy Coroner James Donner.
In an unrelated crash, two Kennett men were hospitalized Saturday when the SUV they were riding in slammed into a tree.
The crash happened at 5:30 p.m. on Browns Road in Van Buren.
According to Trooper M. L. Freeman, 21-year-old Alexandria Smith of Herrin, Illinois, skidded off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.
Kenneth L. Hounihan, 33, was seriously injured. He was airlifted to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau
Kevin Davis, 39, was taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.
Smith was not injured.
According to Trooper Freeman’s crash report, none of the three was wearing a seat belt.
