Local woman killed in crash | News
An elderly Region 8 woman died Tuesday morning in a single-car crash in Dunklin County.
Johnie E. Whitaker, 86, of Steele was southbound on County Road 723 when her 1998 Dodge Caravan ran off the road and struck a ditch.
According to investigators with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 9:20 a.m. four miles south of Rives. At 10:51 a.m. Dunklin County Coroner James Powell pronounced Whitaker dead at the scene.
She was not wearing a seat belt.
