A Bootheel Missouri man was killed Wednesday when his tractor-trailer overturned.
The crash happened just before 3 p.m. on Route AB near Stoddard County Road 506.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, 34-year-old Daniel J. Whittemore of Advance was westbound when his 2007 Freightliner ran off the right side of the road.
Investigators say Whittemore overcorrected and the truck then ran off the left side of the roadway, overcorrected again before overturning.
Whittemore, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by Stoddard County Coroner Kenny Pope.
His passengers, 29-year-old Jonathan E. Eldridge of Marble Hill and 47-year-old Tracy K. Williams, were both taken by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Eldridge suffered moderate injuries, Williams reportedly sustained serious injuries. Investigators say neither man was wearing a seat belt.
The Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, Bloomfield Fire Department, Stoddard County EMS and the Missouri Department of Transportation assisted the state highway patrol at the crash scene.
