Icy road blamed for early morning crash

An Icy road was to blame for a car crash that sent two people to the hospital Friday morning.

Just after 6 a.m. Robert W. Paine, 28, of Bernie was northbound on Highway 157 in Mississippi County, MO, when his 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck slid on some ice.

According to Trooper S. M. Spain of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Paine overcorrected and his truck slid off the right side of the roadway and overturned.  The truck was totaled.

Paine and his passenger, 36-year-old Brian K. Palmer of Advance, were taken to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston with moderate injuries.  Both men were wearing their seat belts.
