Sikeston police have arrested several people in connection with a disturbance Sunday afternoon at a local liquor store.

Just before 4 p.m. November 11 Sikeston DPS was called to a disturbance at Westside Liquor, 889 W. Malone.  According to Captain Jim McMillen, the fight broke up and began a short time later in the vicinity of William and Clayton Street, again with “several subjects involved in a physical altercation.”

The fighting ended when someone pulled out a gun and fired it in the crowd, according to Capt. McMillen.  The suspected shooter, 45-year-old Russel Lee Davis of Sikeston, was arrested and at a home in the 500-block of Malcolm and charged with unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm.  He’s currently being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond.

During their investigation, police reporedly learned that two groups of people have been feuding for several weeks.  It’s believed they are responsible for a recent rash of “shots fired” calls to DPS, according to Capt. McMillen.
